Barbecue restaurants on Greenville Avenue seem doomed to fail. In late September, Stiky Ribz became the latest casualty in a string of three barbecue joints that closed at 1916 Greenville Ave.

Stiky Ribz, a Forney BBQ spinoff, shut its doors three months after opening in June. It replaced Smokin’ C’s, which never opened. Before that, the space was home to Louie King BBQ. That eatery closed in May, about six months after it opened.

Customers gave Stiky Ribz positive food reviews, but high rents on Greenville Avenue proved to be a problem, CultureMap reported.

“It just wasn’t doing as well as we had hoped,” a spokeswoman for Stiky Ribz told the publication. “We decided to shut it down before things got too out of hand and focus on our original location in Forney.”

That location is about to transition from food truck to brick-and-mortar restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating.
