Cops were called to the corner of Abrams and La Vista after a woman struck a tree, dismantling her vehicle in the roadway just before midnight last night. Police say the woman reekedĀ of alcohol, had slurred speech and was unsteady on her feet.
“I love you and I will fight for you and I’m invoking my 5th Amendment rights,” the woman repeatedly told the cops, according to WFAA.
As officersĀ began to process the woman as a suspected drunk driver, they realized she was State Rep. Victoria Neave, elected to District 107, which includes East Dallas, Garland and Mesquite.
She was booked into the Dallas County Jail on charges of driving under the influence. Following her release on bail, she issued the following statement:
Last night, I disappointed my family, my constituents and my supporters. I disappointed myself. I am so grateful that no one was hurt. pic.twitter.com/CIN2EQxNVX
