St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School has applied to renew the Special Use Permit (SUP) granted by the City of Dallas to operate its athletic fields on Abrams Road for another 10 years. In May 2012, St. Thomas received SUP approval for the school expansion based on the plans and other commitments shown here.

According to Rob Baldwin of Baldwin Planning, representing St. Thomas in its renewal application, all conditions will remain the same except for the addition of a covered walkway and an update to the Traffic Management Plan.

The automatic renewal process includes staff review of compliance with the SUP conditions and adjacent property owner notification. If staff determines that the current conditions are not in compliance and/or owners of 20% or more of the property within 200 feet of the site file a written protest to the renewal, a public hearing before the City Plan Commission and City Council is required. If neither of these occurs, the SUP will be automatically renewed for another 10 years.

If a public hearing is required, it would most likely be held at a February meeting of the Plan Commission.
