The restaurant shared news of the closure on its social media accounts May 8, and The Dallas Morning News reported the news Friday morning.

“We want to thank each and everyone of our guest that continues to support us here at St. Martins wine bistro! We love you,” the restaurant wrote in an Instagram post May 8.

Restaurant owner Mohsen Heidari told the News that the lease was up at 3020 Greenville Ave., and he and his family plan to reopen at a different East Dallas location in coming months — “later this summer,” according to a Facebook post the restaurant shared.

Scott Fickling and his business partner, Phil Patterson, opened St. Martin’s in 1980 next to the San Francisco Rose, a fern bar that Fickling also opened. Heidari took over the restaurant in the late 1990s.

St. Martin’s is known for its romantic atmosphere, created by dim lighting and live music from a pianist.

This is the latest dining institution to leave Greenville Avenue in recent years. Blue Goose Cantina closed earlier this year after nearly 40 years. The Grape closed in 2019 after nearly 50 years, and San Francisco Rose closed in 2017.

There’s still time to eat at St. Martin’s before it closes May 20; make a reservation online or by calling the restaurant at 214.826.0940.
