Hello, all. It is unbelievable how fast time flies. The seniors of District 2 are gearing up for graduation starting this month, and for elementary and middle school students, this year’s STAAR testing has officially come to a close. I applaud the students of District 2 for their continuous hard work and dedication to a quality education here at Dallas ISD.

Thank you to those who joined us for the recent budget meetings to discuss the district’s planning process and hear feedback from the community. I am also thankful to everyone who helped make the district’s first Neighborhood Schools Night Out event a success.

Teacher of the Year finalist

A special shoutout to Nancy Salas from Henry W. Longfellow Career Exploration Academy for being a 2022-2023 Teacher of the Year finalist.

Hillcrest High School students are making strides

Kudos to Jack Yurich from Hillcrest High School, who qualified for the quarterfinals of the UIL State Tennis Tournament. In addition, I’m sending a “Job well done” to Hillcrest’s debate teams for their participation in the Spring Debate Championship Awards.

If you haven’t already, please check out Andrea T’s senior story on The Hub. She is going to Harvard University next semester.  I am so proud to represent the wonderful accomplishments of students such as Andrea.

Almost to the finish line for District 2 graduates

Senior year is coming to an end, and the 2022-2023 graduation ceremonies are approaching at the end of May. Hillcrest High School’s ceremony will be at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 27, at the Alfred J. Loos Sports Complex while Woodrow Wilson High School’s ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. on Sunday, May 28, also at Alfred J. Loos.

For those who are unable to join in person, both ceremonies will be streamed live. And you can find all graduation ceremonies on the district’s YouTube channel playlist after the live event.
