While the album was created in honor of Deep Ellum, it will be released in Oak Cliff as a way of “celebrating the entire Dallas music scene,” a statement said.

The anniversary album was inspired by a 1987 Island Records album by the same name, which highlighted local artists who embodied the emerging sounds of the ’90s.

Hundreds of artists applied for the latest edition of the album, and 10 were chosen.

The featured performers are Lorelei K, Maya Piata, Cure for Paranoia, The Memory Shivers, Stone Mecca, Flower Child, Skinny Cooks, Children of Indigo, Labretta Suede and the Motel 6 and Ducado Vega.

Sounds of Deep Ellum is a time capsule of the current era, featuring a diverse group of musicians. The album captures the richness and diversity of the Dallas’ music scene and highlights the city’s exceptional talent. These young artists are performing on the same streets as the greats that preceded them, and are in fact preserving the musical legacy and the rich cultural history of Deep Ellum,” a statement about the album said.

Sounds of Deep Ellum was recorded live at Trees on Oct. 25, 2022.

The vinyl release will be held at 7:00 p.m. at Spinster Records on July 14.

A release concert will be held July 29 at House of Blues and will feature all of the musicians on the record.
