A new taco, beer and sports joint will open soon.I know what you’re thinking: Another friggin taco place?

I know. I know, but wait. This one is in an area where there ARE no taco joints or many inexpensive dining options for that matter. First of all, full disclosure, the owner is my husband, White Rock area dweller Josh Babb, who is also a managing partner at Kenichi, one of the few Victory Park businesses to live and thrive through tough economic times.

The new concept, Shooters (“where beer, sports and tacos go to hang out”) is fashioned after the things we really dig in OUR favorite neighborhood restaurants: generous portions of good food at low prices (all menu items are under $10 — so lower than any we’ve seen within the confines of Victory Park for sure) — think Good 2 Go or Fuzzy’s.

Shooters is located in the former La Condesa spot next to the American Airlines Center (and just off the Katy trail, for those times you want to walk or ride your bike to a no-frills lunch, dinner or nightcap).

Bodhi Durant, executive chef at Kenichi is putting the menu together. The lease was just signed this afternoon. They hope to open before the end of the year. We’ll keep you posted.
