Groundbreaking ceremony for The Vista.

An $84 million senior living center has just broken ground in East Dallas and it doesn’t look like it’s going to be your run-of-the-mill building either.

On Thursday, a groundbreaking was held for The Vista, which is slated for completion in the summer 2018. The building project is being orchestrated by the nonprofit senior living community, C.C. Young.

The 10-level and 325,000-square-foot center will connect to the Blanton Assisted Living Center building and will add 221 new residences interestingly enough, will cut into the side of a hill.

While the center is focused on integrated transitional living, it’s also going to get a modern look that’s anything but a typical retirement home. The building will have “clean lines and crisp edges with a more forward-thinking and less traditional design,” according to a statement from Josh Williams, associate principal of D2 Architecture, which is heading up parts of the project.

At the groundbreaking, Russell Crews, C.C. Young CEO and president, spoke to the audience about what this new building will mean for the community and its residents moving forward.

“We believe The Vista is a very forward-thinking innovative approach to senior living,” Crews says. “We think it’s really going to change how people view senior living in the future.”
