A man driving a scooter died and another person was injured Saturday night in a hit-and-run in Old East Dallas, authorities said.

The collision happened at 8 p.m. in the 2600 block of Matilda Street, the Dallas Morning News reported.

The 28-year-old victim was operating a scooter when a black GMC SUV hit the scooter and drove away, according to the newspaper.

Dallas Fire-Rescue took the scooter driver to a hospital, where he later died. A 25-year-old woman who was also riding on the scooter was treated at the hospital for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The victims have not been identified.

Police said the SUV driver has not been found.
