Victor H. Hexter Elementary submitted a grant application for The Heart of America Foundation and Target Library Makeover, and last week they were selected as the recipient of the Target READesign Makeover. The school library will receive a major facelift, they announced on their Facebook page, with a project that will include renovations valued at over $250,000. “This will be a fast process which will culminate at the end of April with a reveal of our new library,” the Facebook post states.

Lakehill Preparatory School is hosting a benefit auction this Friday, Feb. 21, at Palomar Hotel. Check out the event page to learn more or to purchase tickets.

Lakewood Elementary is looking for volunteers for the book fair on March 3-7. Sign up online.

Eat at the Wendy’s at 11711 E. Northwest Hwy today (on the third Tuesday of every month) to benefit Victor H. Hexter Elementary School. Just tell them you’re there for Hexter and Wendy’s will donate a portion of the sales to the school.

Last chance for students to participate in the Comerica For the Love of Lakewood Piggy Bank Challenge to raise money for the Lakewood Elementary Expansion Foundation (better known as the LEEF initiative), which Lakewood Early Childhood PTA is hosting. Lakewood Elementary students have until Feb. 19 to become the classroom with the most spare change in their classroom piggy bank. The classroom that collects the most money will win a cookie cake class party and $100 gift card for their teacher. Learn more.

And, don’t forget, coming up on Sat., March 1, Friends of Lakewood will host a fundraiser concert benefiting Lakewood Elementary featuring two sought after local bands, The O’s and Ronnie Fauss. Leave the kids at home and bring your better half, friends and neighbors and come out to the FOL Texas Independence Day Concert. Everyone is welcome.

Also don’t forget, Stonewall Jackson Elementary School is gearing up for the 3rd Annual Food Truck Field Day on March 29, and there’s going to be a new addition to the event this year:  The White Top Book Sale. So Stonewall needs as many books as they can get before then. There’s a bin in the front hall outside the office for donations. All proceeds will benefit Stonewall Gardens.
