Here’s a roundup of some interesting school news bites you might need to know for the upcoming week:
- The Lakewood Home Festival is this weekend. Enjoy a peek inside six of Lakewood’s most beautiful homes from Friday, Nov. 8 through Sunday, Nov. 10. (The dates and times are pretty confusing, so double check the calendar listing to make sure you understand everything.) We wrote about Ann and Richard Hazlett, whose home at 7169 Greentree will be featured on the tour this year. Check out the story, then get your tickets online. The LECPTA is looking for more volunteers to help with the tour.
- Hexter Garden invites you to get your gloves dirty and join them this Saturday, Nov. 9 for Garden Maintenance Day. It’s come and go from 8 a.m. to noon. Bring the whole family, as well as any tools you care to bring. Coffee, water and breakfast will be provided. Victor H. Hexter Elementary School is located at 9720 Waterview. Call 972.762.0047 for info.
- The Woodrow Wilson Class of 2015 is selling holiday wreaths to help pay for expenses not covered by DISD, and the deadline for orders is coming up fast. Straight from the piney woods of Minnesota, each measures 25″ diameter. All styles are $25. Take a peek at the wreaths online. The class is selling the classic, Victorian, and cranberry splash styles only. All orders may be emailed directly to Lucie Pound at lpound@yahoo.com and are due no later than Nov. 1. Wreaths will be ready for pick up the week of Dec. 2-6 at the Pound house, 7124 Casa Loma. Payment for the wreaths is due at pick up.
