With help from The Great Seed Bomb and dozens of volunteers, Friends of Santa Fe Trail spread seeds between Mount Auburn and Mount Beacon in January, according to a news release. The organization invites neighbors to take pictures of the blooming wildflowers and tag the group on Instagram.

Woodrow Wilson students and Boy Scouts from a local troop also helped plant 21 trees that will provide shade along the trail, the release states. The March planting was a gift that will keep on giving. Once the trees mature, they’ll provide shade for the rest of our lifetimes.

Be on the lookout for the next planting opportunity at the end of this year or in early 2020.
