We’ve had lots of constructive discussion here about a recent proposal by a committee of Ridgewood Park Neighborhood Association residents seeking to amend DISD’s attendance zone and transfer their neighborhood (and students) from Dan D. Rogers Elementary to the Lakewood Elementary feeder system, which includes J.L. Long Middle School and Woodrow Wilson High School. The plan was scheduled to be discussed at DISD’s Feb. 25 board meeting, but the item has been pulled from the agenda — possibly permanently — as a result of concerns from Lakewood Elementary parents who say the school is already at or over capacity. I talked with trustee Bernadette Nutall briefly today, and she confirmed the item had been pulled from the agenda and says the plan is, in her opinion, "dead" and not going to be reconsidered.
