I frequently crave sushi, and I’m always in a hurry, so I often grab some of the ready-made sushi rolls and sashimi offered at grocery store delis. Thus, probably way too often, I settle for the mediocre, and I figure that’s the best I can do on the fly. But over the past year or so, Lakewood/East Dallas has landed a couple places that provide prime sushi on the run —Lakewood Whole Foods, across from the Advocate offices, is the first obvious choice, because everything they carry is at least above average and the sushi is no exception. But, a couple months ago I discovered the sushi counter at Newflower Market on Henderson and I have been hooked ever since. It’s cheaper than WF by a couple dollars a box, and the times I’ve been in, a sushi chef has been behind the counter preparing platters as needed, so it’s incredibly fresh. They offer a great selection of rolls, sashimi, seaweed salads and bottled Sake. Newflower is hardly ever crowded, even at lunchtime.
