Part of the former Blockbuster Video in Hillside Village will become a Fuzzy's Taco

If you drive along Mockingbird daily to see if White Rock Coffee Express is open yet — guys, soon? — you might have noticed that work on the old Blockbuster space in Hillside Village (Mockingbird-Abrams) is underway. The last I heard, Fuzzy’s Taco Shop, with a patio, will be opening there this summer. Fuzzy’s is known for bright colors and an atmosphere that invites a fiesta. Twinrose Investments ‘ Jim Tudor says they are working on the patios for both Fuzzy’s Taco Shop and for Pizzeria Venti. “The walkway in front of Fuzzy’s Taco Shop will be raised across the entire frontage to provide convenient access to all the tenant spaces,” he says. Here’s what our former North Dallas editor Marlena Chavira-Medford had to say about the Fuzzy’s in her neck of the woods:

The food here, which you order at the register, is mostly offered a la carte. So unless you order one of the platters, you’ll have to pay extra for those beans and rice .The big draw here are the baja-style fish tacos, though there are several other worthy choices, like jumbo burritos, grilled sandwiches, and salads. I was pleasantly surprised by the good hunk of vegetarian options — the grilled veggies tacos I had were delightful, as was the black bean soup and Latin-style fried potatoes. There’s also beer and margaritas here, and keep this place on your AM radar, as breakfast here includes huevos rancheros, migas, chilaquiles, and breakfast tacos and burritos.

Also opening soon in the Hillside, next to Ebby Halliday, is Pizzeria Venti that will offer 20 different pizzas by the slice or pan. Boasts the web site, “Our ingredients are simply second to none. Top quality Italian sausage made with a touch of fennel, fresh basil and other herbs, ripe roma tomatoes, superior quality prosciutto and pepperoni. Fresh mushrooms, bell peppers, red onions, the list goes on and on.” Mmmm. And their gelato was named Best in Atlanta, a sidenote that gives this ice cream lover anticipatory chills.
