We noticed this church-turned-house on the market at 5601 East Side Ave. Listed at almost $1.3 million, it is actually two residences.

It’s not unheard of for people in our neighborhood to make churches into their homes. Ronnie Claire Edwards, a TV actress best known for her role as Corabeth on “The Waltons”, turned a Catholic church on Swiss Avenue into a house.

And over in Oak Cliff, artists Candice Chase and Mark Thomas are renovating the church they bought in 2009, which is now their home and studio.
