Friends of the SoPac Trail is inviting neighbors to help out with the pollinator garden this weekend.
The group is leading the effort, which is supported by public donations and a grant from the Native Plant Society of Texas for all the plants needed to qualify as a butterfly pollinator garden.
Planting begins at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2 on the trail east of the Mockingbird overpass. Volunteers will be planting more than 100 plants.
A drinking fountain, stone benches and trash cans have already been installed in the area. On Oct. 23, neighbors will be planting six trees around the garden: desert willows, vitex, a burr or chinquapin oak and a lace bark elm.
