An undercover officer with the Dallas Police Department was involved in a shooting early Saturday.

The officer was working in the 4800 block of Columbia when a man in his 20s approached, pulled a gun and tried to rob the cop. The officer also pulled a gun, and they both fired.

The would-be robber ran away and has not been captured. The officer was not injured.

The man was described as about 5-foot-6 with short-cropped hair, a blue hoodie and jeans.
