Plomo Quesadillas Bar will open in a spot next to Houndstooth Coffee, High Fives and The Whippersnapper near Henderson and McMillan.

The space has been vacant for a while now. As far as we can tell from street view on Google Maps, the space was last used as an art gallery called Art on Henderson.

According to its Instagram, Plomo will open at 1802 McMillan Ave. in summer 2023. It is taking one of the last available spaces on that side of the intersection. There’s another unoccupied spot facing Henderson, next to the Hairstory salon. Across McMillan, the old Beauty Bar is still empty. But Bonobos, CorePower Yoga and Barcadia fill the retail spaces in the surrounding area.

A New York-based firm called Acadia Realty Trust acquired the McMillan building, along with many others along Henderson Avenue, earlier this year.

Classic fillings such as chicken, steak, chorizo and just plain cheese are on Plomo’s menu, as well as specialty options. “El Padrino” has ribeye steak, cilantro, onions, Doritos and picante. “Jessie James” has grilled chicken, buffalo ranch, green onions and Ruffles. “El Marro” has chicken, Mexican rice, refried beans, queso and cilantro.

In other words, if the Dallas restaurant is anything like the original, it will serve plenty of food options capable of soaking up libations consumed during a night out at one of the many nearby watering holes.

The Advocate is in touch with the restaurant operator to learn more about the Dallas restaurant, and we will provide updates when we hear back.
