Pedestrians beware: Cars just couldn’t keep on the roads this weekend. When walking along neighborhood thruways Abrams and Skillman, it is best to look both ways even when not crossing the street, as there may be a car careening toward you.

A BMW spun out of control on Abrams Saturday afternoon and crashed into the bushes in front of Lakewood Plaza apartments. Resident Amy Landrum, who was home at the time of the crash, and raced outside when she heard a boom. “I noticed the car in front of the building and another damaged car in the street. We heard a child crying, and saw paramedics with a family and child.”

Landrum spoke with the driver and passenger of the vehicle that ended up in the grass. “They were okay but seemed in shock.”

Early on Sunday, another car ended up in the front yard of a house.

The vehicle went airborne and caught fire when it lost control on Skillman and crashed into a house in the 6100 block of Llano early Sunday morning. Two people in the car were hospitalized, but no one in the house was hurt.

This all in a weekend after Texas State Rep. Victoria Neave hit a tree and was booked for a DWI at Abrams and La Vista. Stay safe out there, neighbors.
