In 2023, property crimes take the lead amongst all four districts for East Dallas and Lakewood. Compared to 2022 crime data, this year’s crime reports show a mix of increases and decreases month to month per neighborhood.

District 9

The total of documented crimes in 2023, District 9 were mostly property crime. The district had the lowest amount of crimes documented in comparison to the additional three districts in East Dallas.

In 2023, crime statistics per month have mostly increased compared to last year’s records. August had the highest number of crimes, leading at 588, most of these being motor vehicle theft. Crime in September increased from 486 to 578. June documented the least amount of criminal activity with 456 reports, a decrease from last year.

District 9 primarily experienced crimes against properties, the first month leading the highest number of destruction/vandalism/damage of property crimes for the year so far. Yet, the area experienced the lowest number of crimes in comparison to the other three districts crime reports in 2023.

In April, Dallas Police reportedly found more than 7 kilos of methamphetamine and a quarter kilo of crack cocaine at a traffic stop in the Casa Linda area, according to previous Advocate reporting.

District 2

In District 2, there was a mix of increased and decreased criminal activity per month this year compared to the previous year. Motor vehicle theft and theft from motor vehicles were still the majority of leading crimes each month. Simple assault and drug/narcotic violations also made the top leading number of crimes. 

On January 26, a woman was found fatally shot in a vehicle on Tenison Parkway, according to previous Advocate reporting. 

So far, nearly all months aside from January, February and May have reported over 1,000 total crimes, with February having the lowest numbers at 916. July experienced the highest amount of total crimes at 1,135, most being property with a few high reports of vandalism and drug/narcotic violations.

District 10

Compared to last year’s data, January declined from 597 total crimes to 493 in 2023. May increased by almost 200 from the previous year, the highest number of crimes for District 10 this year at 731.

District 14

This year District 14 started at 842 total crimes then dipped to 731 in February and continued an alternating trend each month from higher to lower number of crimes.

July experienced the highest number of crimes at 1,073, a significant growth compared to 2022 at 872. The month consisted of 821 crimes against property, 191 against persons and 61 against society.
