The owner, Shaun Marchant, tells the Advocate that the bar will close after July 4. Marchant declined to comment further on the decision.

OT Tavern, which has remained crowded on the weekends, has been the subject of neighborhood pushback for years.

So has the next-door Bar 3606, which is still open.

Residents within 300 feet of Bar 3606 were asked by the Lower Greenville Neighborhood Association to file a protest with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission against the nightclub and ask the TABC not to renew the liquor license.

Recently, the City has been involved, issuing a notice of abatable crime and ordinance violations to the landlord of the property at 3606 Greenville Ave. and then filing a lawsuit against the landlord.

Over the past few months, several violent incidents have occurred inside or near 3606 Greenville Ave.: a shooting on June 4, an aggravated assault on April 10, a murder on March 18 and an aggravated assault on March 13.

The Advocate will continue to follow this story.
