Dirt on Lakewood

If you drive down Lakewood Boulevard, it’s hard not to notice the giant piles of dirt and gravel and other dusty materials lined up in the street between Cambria and Pearson.

The City is doing some construction on the street, which is fine, except the Lakewood 4th of July Parade is on Friday, and it’s kind of a big deal.

On Friday, neighbors will swarm the streets in red, white and blue for the annual parade, which is themed Lakewood Loves the Beach this year, and those dirt piles are right smack dab in the middle of the parade route. Not cool, dirt, not cool.

Longtime committee member Carol Hensley says the City promised to move the construction material before the parade, and then they will continue the maintenance afterwards.

So here’s to hoping they keep their promise. Otherwise, things could get messy.
