Remember the time Laura Miller had TV news cameras follow her to dinner on Lower Greenville to show that it was safe to go there at night? San Francisco Rose owner Jim Bradberry remembers it as a low point for business along the strip of taverns, nightclubs and restaurants. And he is part of a new group of business owners aiming to usher Lower Greenville to a new zenith. The Greenville Avenue Restaurant Association, which formed recently, is a first for the area, where some business owners are rumored to hold long-standing feuds. "There’s been a lot of disenchantment down there, so we want to put that to an end," he says. "We’re trying to create a sense of unity among business owners."

First up, they’re planning a Taste of Greenville Avenue festival from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 24 at the Granada Theather. "It’s going to be a big street party where you can come out and meet your neighbors," Bradberry says.
