Upper Greenville isn’t the place I would expect to find a brand new Starbucks, given the fact that there’s already a Starbucks location right down the avenue at Greenville and Caruth Haven. So I was caught by surprise when I drove by and saw one just a few doors down from Raising Cane’s.

I almost had to do a double take — that was a Starbucks, right?

Sure enough, there it was, complete with the iconic green siren sign and a banner announcing the countdown has already begun for its grand opening date.

The windows are too dark for satisfactory snooping (I tried), and visitors aren’t invited inside for a sneak peek just yet.

However, you don’t need to go inside to figure out why Starbucks chose that location for a new store.

Two words: drive thru.

And it’s a king-sized drive thru, too. At least 15 cars could fit in that sucker, which is good news for anyone who has ever tried to maneuver the madhouse that is the drive thru for the Starbucks at Northwest Highway and Shady Brook.

The parking lot is also sizable for the space.

The grand opening is on Tuesday, Oct. 7, for anyone interested in checking out the new digs.
