There are a couple new inexpensive dining options in our neighborhood.

A slew of eateries have come and gone at the corner of Northwest Highway and Abrams across the road from Keller’s Hamburgers. The latest, Cha Cha’s Diner and Parilla caught my attention not just because of it’s boisterous signage, but also because they apparently open at 6 a.m., serve breakfast including pancakes and 75-cent coffee, stay open until 10 p.m. and serve fajitas and such for dinner. (I know all that thanks to the aforementioned signage). I like coffee — a lot — and I like the idea of a potentially good n’ greasy breakfast place, even if the menu seems far out, I’m willing to give it a try.

Around the corner from Cha Cha’s is "hot dog heaven", so I’m told. The new-ish Eddie’s Deli, also at Abrams and Northwest Highway, is serving up a variety of dogs and sausages and sandwiches and getting a bit of buzz already. You can’t miss the "Chicago Hot Dogs" sign out front and in various places around the parking lot — check here Friday for my “Restaurant Talk” post for more on these new neighborhood spots.
