Lowest Greenville says goodbye to hookah and hello to king crab.
The owner, Steven Sohn, is the man who brought us Hibashi Teppan Grill Sushi Bar in Far North Dallas. The manager, Steven Whitear, says together they have roughly six decades of restaurant experience, although this is their first time to open a cajun restaurant.
“We’ve always liked cajun food, basically, so we decided to open up a cajun restaurant,” Whitear says, adding that the No. 1 menu item will be crab because “everybody loves crab.”
And just like that, we have Ragin Crab on Lowest Greenville.
Whitear says they were searching for a location when Kush folded and the restaurant space at the corner of Greenville and Prospect became available. There are a couple cajun food restuarants on Greenville already. Plus, Daddy Jack’s has been serving seafood on Greenville for 22 years, and it even serves king crab.
But Whitear says he isn’t worried. He’s confident Ragin Crab’s food, service and sports bar vibe — complete with 15 TVs — will “give it a step up” and distinguish it from the other cajun restaurants in the area.
Ragin Crab has already received its liquor license, so now all Whitear has to do is finish setting up the furniture. He’s hoping to open by Thursday or Friday. If not, then next week for sure.
