The Peninsula Neighborhood Association, which encompasses a group of homes near the east shore of White Rock Lake, has come out unanimously against a proposed White Rock Boathouse awaiting City Council approval, according to a blog post by the DMN’s Robert Wilonsky. We’re written about the proposal a couple of times, and we recorded a podcast with the Dallas United Crew officials spearheading the project.

The neighborhood association, which released its thoughts about the proposed boathouse in a letter to all city councilmen and select media (we are copied on the letter but didn’t actually receive a copy of the letter), pleads with council rep Sheffie Kadane to reject the proposal, saying the group is concerned about increased traffic and parking near the lake, as well as the possibility that approving this building opens the door for “future commercialization” of the lake.

Kadane told Wilonsky that he understands the neighborhood group’s concerns but is inclined to support the boathouse proposal because he believes it’s good for the city and the lake.
