Many of us have already purchased and given holiday gifts, but there are still opportunities to support local businesses in the new year.

Scardello Artisan Cheese is owned by Lakewood neighbors and located in Oak Lawn.

In January, the shop is offering virtual classes starting at $30 per person. The first class is scheduled for Jan. 7 and explores European classics. Throughout the month, learn about a variety of topics and enjoy guided tastings. Some classes are honey and cheese, pickles and cheese and cheese 101.

A full list of the classes and tickets are available here.

Roots Market & Juicery is offering products focused on New Year’s Eve celebrations.

A cocktail mixers kit is available for $60 and includes eight bottles of juice in four blends: lean and fit (grapefruit and mint), watermelon cooler (watermelon and fennel), pear pleasure (pear and pineapple) and seasonal smash (pomegranate, pineapple and cinnamon).

Clean champagnes are available at the Fitzhugh location or online. A liver cleanse and hangover recovery kit are perfect for after the party.

There’s a Roots at 4164 N. Central Expressway, and the Lakewood location is at 1906 Abrams Parkway.
