It’s tough times for most of us in the working world, and it’s no exception at Woodrow Wilson High School, where some students in the Career and Technology Department are having a hard time finding paying gigs to serve as interships, according to Phyllis Knox, the program coordinator.

As part of the program, students typically are available for work beginning around 1 or 2 p.m. weekdays, and they’re required to work a minimum of 15 hours weekly. Ideally, the job should expose the students to some type of marketable skill, because the point is to help kids figure out which direction to head once high school is over.

The internships are designed to pay minimum-wage or more, and students are looking for jobs in retail, marketing, hospitality and food service. If you’re interested, email Ms. Knox here and see if you can help out. Many of the students don’t have cars, so ideally, the jobs won’t be too far from the school, located at 100 S. Glasgow.
