The feature-length film, “In the Land of the Fireworks”, will start shooting at various East Dallas locations (at Lakewood 1st &10 on Mockingbird, to name one) in November.
The “Fireworks” producers utilized Facebook and MySpace to recruit talent and are currently sifting through video auditions and “trying to finalize the cast”, according to the movie web site.
The production is independent and self funded, says Mike Whatley a producer/editor on the film. “It consists of a completely local cast and crew, from the writer/director, to the local actors and artists,” he tells us. “We’ve generated quite a buzz in the film community with about 18,000 hits on our website over the past two months.”
And they have a deal with Rave Motion Picture theaters to screen the movie once it’s ready. We will stay in touch with Whatley and bring you the latest on movie making in our motion-picture-worthy hood.
