Your Q:

Yesterday in my neighborhood (Hollywood Heights) and the neighborhood to the south (Mt. Auburn) there were teams of horse-mounted police patrolling our streets. It seemed very weird since I have never seen this before. Is this part of some new policing strategy? Is Dallas Police Dept. getting ready to patrol the Santa Fe trail? Or something else? —Robert Don

Deputy Police Chief Vincent Golbeck’s A:

We’ve had an increase in residential burglaries in the last several weeks in a very localized area, primarily Reporting Area 1194 (Santa Fe/Glasgow area). We periodically utilize mounted when we feel it will have an impact. The mounted will be used occasionally on Santa Fe Trail as we do on Katy Trail.

If you have a Q for Deputy Chief Golbeck, let me know.

Also, look for my story about his extra curricular aspirations in the February Advocate, which should arrive at your door later this week.
