Mount Auburn Elementary School first opened on Jan. 2, 1921, with 12 teachers and 375 students. The school held its first flag-raising ceremony on Jan. 8 of that year. Teachers and students celebrated the school’s 90th anniversary with a flag-raising ceremony this past Friday, Jan. 6.
The school is planning a bigger celebration in April, when they plan to invite the community as well as alumni and former faculty and staff members to an event. Anyone interested in receiving an invitation should contact Heather Jarrell at HJarrell@dallasisd.org.
