As Lakewood welcomes new tenants to the neighborhood, Merit coffee opens its fifth location in Dallas Oct. 20, the newest location features brand-new art installation, an emphasis on bar seating and custom built-in retail display.
The San Antonio-based coffee shop has looked towards expanding to the east side of Dallas for a while, Â Lydia Cassels, Field Sales and Marketing Manager for Merit Coffee said. The Lakewood location held opportunity for the cafe to expand to a new community of customers.
“It’s such a gorgeous spot [that] has so much outside seating and allowed us to do a fun few things that we haven’t been able to do in cafes before,” Cassels said.
With a large outside photo display of Merit’s logo in hot pink, custom retail displays, expanded outdoor seating, Cassels shared her excitement for the cafe to be a part of the Lakewood neighborhood.
At 6 a.m., Oct 20, opening day, Merit Coffee Lakewood had a line  “out the door” starting as soon as business hours and staying packed until noon, she said.
“It was the biggest that I’ve ever seen in any of our Dallas cafes,” Cassels said. “It was so neat to be able to see a so many people from the community, people who live really close by, I mean, that’s such a fantastic spot because it’s so close to a neighborhood and commuters and so many great businesses that have all kind of started coming up in that area.”
According to the Dallas Morning News reporting, the coffee shop took place of a former nail salon at the southeast corner of Mockingbird Lane and Abrams Road.
The cafe is located on 4124 Abrams Road across fringe Hudson House. Its hours of operation are from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. on weekends.
