Residents drove through the neighborhood Thursday to celebrate the life of East Dallas stalwarts Virginia McAlester and Thomas Hogue, who died earlier this month.
The no-contact memorial drive passed McAlester’s house on Swiss Avenue and Hogue’s residence on Bryan Parkway. It ended with a horn salute at Savage Park.
Throughout the neighborhood, residents decorated their yard with pink and green ribbons.
“This, of course, is in no way the only celebration of the lives of these two remarkable people, but only an immediate, impromptu, safe way for us to express our love and sadness together at a time with limited options for expression,” Friends of the Aldredge House wrote in an email.
