There were only about 100 people at the first running of the YMCA Turkey Trot in 1968. Tomorrow, about 37,000 people are expected to participate (several from the Advocate office I might add). I wonder what it takes to be an overall winner out of 37,000 or so people. Oh, wait we know—we recently featured the female runner who came in first the past three years. Read about her here. But for most of the folks out there it’s not really a competitive thing (it’s quite tough to break into a run amid the nearly 40,000 people, many with dogs and strollers, at the start), rather an insanely crowded Thanksgiving tradition.
