Dallas Fire-Rescue responded at about 3:15 p.m. to the LaVita on Lovers Lane apartments, 6603 E. Lovers Lane. Firefighters saw smoke coming from a unit on the second floor when they arrived, spokesman Jason Evans said.

About 70 firefighters worked to extinguish the fire by 5 p.m.

Seven of the eight units were damaged, Evans said. Property managers are working to place residents in vacant apartments on site. The American Red Cross is also helping the displaced residents.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is still being determined.
