Neighborhood resident and Realtor Sherryl Wesson died Sept. 23 after years as a Realtor in East Dallas. Prior to her retirement in 2015, Wesson was sales manager of the local Ebby Halliday Realtors offices.
Wesson graduated from Winnsboro High School, Northwestern State College in Natchitoches, Louisiana, and Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas. She received a Master’s Degree from North Texas State University in Denton.
She began her career as a dental hygienist but decided real estate was her calling. She joined Artha Garza Realtors and then Henry S. Miller Realtors. The last 19 years of her career, she worked with Ebby Halliday.
In 2005, Wesson was elected president of the Metrotex Association of Realtors after helping bring together the Greater Dallas Association of Realtors and two other local Realtor associations. She was selected as the Association’s Realtor of the Year in 2006 and was inducted into the national Omega Tau Rau Fraternity for outstanding work in the real estate industry.
Wesson also served as chairman of the Greater East Dallas Chamber of Commerce in 1996.
Wesson is survived by her husband of 39 years, Larry. A invitation-only memorial service will be held at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave., Sunday, Oct. 4, at 2 p.m. Visitation will be Saturday, Oct. 3, from 2-4 p.m. at Restland, with temperature checks and masks required.
