Though the libraries are still closed on Sundays and Mondays, the hours for the other days have changed.

Here are the updated hours for both libraries:

9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday

10 a.m.-7 p.m. Wednesday-Thursday

9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday

9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday

This means that the Lakewood and Lochwood libraries are now open 41 hours each week, instead of 40 hours.

Extended hours were part of the City of Dallas’ adopted fiscal year 2022-23 budget. The funding allows for an increase in 126 hours per week across the city’s library facilities. White Rock Hills Branch on Ferguson Road and several other public libraries are now open six days each week, up from five days.

Along with the extended hours, the budget for the Dallas Public Library includes funds to expand children’s services and other programs.
