TABC suspends liquor licenses at 4 more East Dallas establishments

Liquor licenses at four more East Dallas establishments were suspended, about a week after the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission temporarily revoked the license at another East Dallas bar for violating COVID-19 health and safety guidelines.

Shuck N Jive, High Fives, Alamo Club and  XOXO Dining Room were the latest eateries to lose their license for 30 days, Eater reported. Shuck N Jive and Alamo Club were cited for being open without the proper permits. XOXO Dining Room and High Fives were cited for not enforcing social distancing and other health standards.

Last week, The Whippersnapper temporarily lost its license for 30 days. The Whip co-owner, Brandon Hays, also co-owns High Fives.

“We didn’t have our paperwork in line for the reclassification,” Hays said about The Whip at the time. “This was an oversight on our part as we had it done for our space next door, and it just didn’t get filed for Whip. We are working with the TABC (they’ve been great to work with) and we are getting our paperwork filed.”

On Oct. 14, Gov. Greg Abbott permitted bars to reopen at 50 percent capacity at the discretion of the county judge. Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins has not allowed bars to reopen at this time. However, TABC rules allow bars to reopen if they reclassify as a restaurant.

The Alamo Club said on Facebook it filed for the wrong permit, which is the reason it had to close.
