Like Roxanne Cheek, Steven Ewing and Jason Myatt before her, Daisy Briones has left Dallas ISD after just one year at the helm of an East Dallas school.
Briones took over as principal at Lipscomb Elementary in Junius Heights after Roxanne Cheek left Lipscomb to be the principal of Woodrow Wilson High School last year.
Lipscomb recently became certified to be an International Baccalaureate World School, a program that Briones helped implement in her five years at Lipscomb. She worked for Dallas ISD for 12 years in total. The school hopes to find a new principal by the end of the month.
In a letter to the community, Briones called her resignation “bittersweet,” but didn’t say if or where she would be working next year. Citing her family as the main reason she is leaving, she writes, “I know the sky is the limit for Lipscomb and I’m glad the hidden gem of East Dallas is starting to shine its own light.”
Earlier this summer, Cheek left Woodrow to be the principal of Aikin Elementary in Richardson ISD, and last summer, Jason Myatt left Lakewood Elementary and is now the principal of Brentfield Elementary in Richardson ISD. Former Dallas ISD Executive Director Joseph Miniscalco left his position overseeing East Dallas schools in Dallas ISD to be Executive Director of School Improvement for Richardson ISD this year as well.
