Using both public and private funding, Habitat takes a holistic approach to its affordable housing mission, by empowering neighbors to get involved. More than 9,000 volunteers help out each year and contribute more than $1.8 million in donations.

You can see the results for yourself. The city’s largest nonprofit home builder hosts an Unlock the Dream Tour, featuring homeowners’ personal stories about how a Habitat home changed their lives.

The one-hour tour begins at 10 a.m. Oct. 25 at the Advocate Magazines office in Suite 820 in the Wells Fargo building at Gaston and La Vista.
