This drone video taken from the top of the Lakewood Theater spire was posted on YouTube by Paul Manak and called to our attention by longtime neighborhood resident Kyle Rains.
I hadn’t realized how much of the spire lighting is out of commission until watching the video, which pans up and down the spire and twirls around to provide a view of the neighborhood from Downtown to Whole Foods, too.
Of course, no Lakewood Theater post is complete without wondering what’s next for the storied building.
Last we heard, the Theater was granted landmark status to the building and spire, ensuring that the exterior (and interior murals) remain relatively untouched for future generations.
As far as potential tenants for the space, we’ve heard a few rumors but nothing that can be substantiated. We’ll keep you up-to-date, and if you’ve heard anything, please let us know.
