I received a sweet e-mail from neighbor Donna Denison of the Lakewood Library Friends. A couple months back Donna asked us to run a listing requesting book donations for a used-book sale to be held during Libraryfest, Sat., Sept. 13, 10 a.m – 4 p.m. at the Lakewood Library.

She says she was at the library this morning sorting through roughly 4,000 donations! I’m pretty sure that you literature-loving Advocate readers had something to do with the great response — so, kudos to you.

Speaking of the Libraryfest —sounds like organizers have a pretty cool event in store that includes live music from the likes of Arts Magnet High School MIDI Ensemble and The Ackermans; local legend Rose-Mary Rumbly who attended the opening of the historic library in 1938; and plenty of FREE activities for the kiddos (yes, it is our official style to always put the word "FREE" in ALL CAPS).
