This year’s iteration will take place at 10 a.m. July 3 at the corner of Lakewood and Cambria boulevards. The parade usually occurs on July 4 but was moved because the holiday falls on a Sunday this year.

Details have not yet been released, and a request for more information was not immediately returned.

The Lakewood Fourth of July parade started in 1962 when two children rode their bikes along the sidewalk of Lakewood Boulevard. These days, hundreds of people participate and thousands more line the streets to see elaborate floats roll by.

Last year, neighbors celebrated virtually with online competitions, such most patriotic yard, most patriotic costume and most patriotic pet. Organizers asked those who would have financially supported the parade to donate those funds to the Wilkinson Center. Neighbors raised $4,545 that was matched for a total of $9,090.
