The summer principal shuffle has claimed another victim, and Jason Myatt has resigned his position leading Lakewood Elementary. Myatt was the third principal in four years at the neighborhood school, which boasts some of the best test scores in the district and has an active parent support network.

Myatt, a Lakewood Hills resident, had been a principal in Plano at Scimelpfenig Elementary for five years before coming to Dallas ISD, and but only lasted a year at the helm of Lakewood. Woodrow’s former principal Steven Ewing also came from a Plano school only to last a single year in Dallas ISD.

Dallas ISD District 2 Trustee Dustin Marshall posted an announcement on Facebook that read, “I regret to report that we’ve just learned that Prinicpal Jason Myatt has decided to resign from Lakewood Elementary.”

In the post, he included a letter from Executive Director of the Woodrow Wilson Feeder Pattern Joe Miniscalco to the community that said, “While the opening presents a challenge during this time of year, it also provides us a great opportunity to search for the next leader that will serve the students, teachers, and community of Lakewood Elementary School.”

Assistant Principal Katie Wilke will be the acting principal for the time being, and we will update as we learn more about the position.
