Lakewood community receives new 106-unit multi-family townhomes, Lakeside at White Rock. This is the first development of this scale to be brought to Lakewood Proper, one of the largest residential neighborhoods in the greater Lakewood area.
The project, brought by developer Moxiebridge and developer Savannah Developers, aims to bring affordable homeownership in a walkable neighborhood connected to the White Rock Trail and near the Dallas Arboretum and White Rock YMCA.
Lakeside’s residential price tag of $539,000 to $699,000 could appeal to new homeowners as properties have significantly increased in the past five years, according to Forrest Gregg, realtor with Compass. Per Lakewood housing market trends, home prices were up 35.7% compared to last year, the median sale price for single-family homes is at $1.4 million.
Located at 7207 Gaston Ave., Lakeside features a selection of two and three-bedroom homes with elevator-ready floor plans, wood flooring, stainless appliances, custom millwork, designer fixtures and finishes, solid core doors, and quartz countertops. Units range in size from 1,400+ square feet to 1,900+ square feet.
“The developers really wanted to create something that was not polarizing from a design perspective. It’s not too modern, it’s not too traditional, it’s truly in that transitional space where there’s just a much broader audience … [that] gives people the freedom to express their own design [in their home],” Gregg said.
Sometime around the ‘30s or ‘40s, 7207 Gaston Ave. was home to Connecticut Club, which later became a multi-family property, Gregg said. The property, bought in 2018, was dilapidated and needed “new life,” he added.
Lakeside at White Rock has been a five-year process. The early design phase started before the pandemic and construction began in June 2023.
The Advocate originally reported on this project in June 2020. At that time, it was called Eastside Trail, and the plan was to build 127 single-family units for sale, 45 “flats” and 82 townhomes, however, Lakeside decided to go in an alternative route.
“What this market needs right now is townhouses that feel similar to a single-family house,” Gregg said.
Prospective homeowners are invited to Lakeside’s grand opening event on Thursday, June 6, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., pre-sales are now available for those looking to make a summer move-in. The community will also be open on June 8 and 9 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
