Preservation Dallas is leading a tour of a historical, architecturally significant home in our neighborhood.

The home, designed by Verne Shanklin, was built for construction entrepreneur L.H. Lacy.

L.H. Lacy & Co. built several notable properties, including the Driskill Hotel in Austin and Woodrow Wilson High School, which was designed by architect Mark Lemmon.

This home is on one of the largest lots of Tokalon Drive. According to Zillow, it has five bedrooms, four bathrooms and spans over 4,200 square feet.

To attend the Feb. 24 tour, you have to be a member of Preservation Dallas, a nonprofit group dedicated to revitalizing our city’s historic buildings, communities and landscapes. Reservations are also required.

Our neighborhood has many historically significant homes, including some on Swiss Avenue, where individuals including Bishop Joseph Lynch, Carrie Marcus, Mayor Woodall Rogers and Collett H. Munger have lived.
