Philip Kingston, the former District 14 City Council representative, is running for Dallas County Commissioner.
Kingston, who lives in the Belmont Addition Conservation District, filed Thursday afternoon to run as a Democrat in the District 2 primary.
The winner of the primary will challenge J.J. Koch, who sued and filed a restraining order against Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins in August. The case is now before the Texas Supreme Court.
“I’m running for Commissioners Court to stand up for our Democratic values and provide the strong, competent leadership District 2 has been missing,” Kingston told The Advocate.
Kingston served on City Council for six years. He ran as the incumbent in 2019 but was defeated by David Blewett in a runoff.
District 2, shaded in blue in the map below, includes parts of East Dallas, Highland Park, University Park, North Dallas and more.
