The Filipino fast-food restaurant applied for a certificate of occupancy at 4703 Greenville Ave.

Jollibee will have a drive-thru and will be housed in the former Jack in the Box near the Greenville-University Boulevard intersection.

There is one North Texas location in Plano and four others throughout Texas.

Jollibee serves popular fast-food items such as fried chicken sandwiches and burgers. But they also have a dish called jolly spaghetti, which is topped with a sweet sauce loaded with ham, ground meat and hot dog. There’s also a traditional Filipino noodle dish called palabok fiesta, which comes with garlic sauce, sauteed pork, shrimp and egg.

The restaurant is best known for what it calls chickenjoy, its fried chicken.

Jollibee is a part of Jollibee Foods Co., which is the largest and fastest-growing Asian restaurant company in the world, according to Jollibee. Even the celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain ate there on occasion.

In 2018, the company announced plans to expand its footprint in the United States. It had 37 Jollibee stores at the time and set a goal of having 150 within five years.
